The Gower Peninsular

The Gower is a multi-award winning area of outstanding natural beauty. Offering some of the best beaches, walks and sights in the UK, a Gower cottage holiday in Wales makes a perfect getaway. Here are some of our favourite Gower bays and villages:

portenyonPort Eynon

Port Eynon is most famously known for winning the prestigious title of Britain’s Best Beach in the UK-wide 2011 Cadbury Flake 99 awards. Judges described the bay as the “perfect British getaway” with a “fun family feel, stunning landscape and idyllic village”.

Port Eynon is home to some of the most picturesque holiday cottages in the Gower. Its rolling hills, idyllic scenery and bustling seaside shops make it the ultimate resort for a Gower holiday.

The Gower holiday cottages in Port Eynon are ideally situated to enjoy the many scenic coastal walks this beautiful bay offers. For those who want to explore the surrounding area, Rhossili Bay, Britain’s Best Beach 2010, is just down the road.

With its infamous 1920s traditional beach huts, Langland beach is a long, golden stretch and a superb location for a self catering holiday in Wales. Langland has been enjoyed by families, walkers and water sport enthusiasts alike for almost a century.

Langland Bay’s award-winning Blue Flag beach, great surf, tennis court, golf course and close proximity to the centre of Mumbles make it the ideal choice for a Gower cottages holiday.

Langland Bay is a popular destination for surfing competitions and a true surfing holiday hotspot in the Gower. When conditions prevail, you can expect to see  breaks such as The Sand Bar, Crab Island, Middle Reef and Lefts.

If you’d prefer to enjoy some of the great walks Langland Bay has to offer, Caswell Bay, Limeslade and Mumbles are all not too far away. The good costal paths and seaside cafés mean you can enjoy fantastic views while taking some time out to relax on route.

Caswell Bay offers a Marine Conservation Society approved Blue Flag award-winning beach for a fun-filled family Gower holiday. With its beautiful self catering holiday cottages, golden sands and rock pools, Caswell Bay is an ideal retreat for a self catering holiday in Wales.

Caswell Bay sits between Langland Bay and Brandy Cove, both of which can be reached by stunning costal paths. Bishop’s Wood Nature Reserve, a classic and relatively rare example of British limestone woodland, is nearby and offers a great day out. The bustling seaside village of Mumbles is also just a 10-minute drive.

If you’d like to complement your seaside Gower cottage holiday with some wining and dining in the city, Swansea city is not too far. Swansea offers everything you’d expect from Wales’ second largest city.
